Mr. Jomar R. Gonzales, one of the faculty members from Bayambang Campus, was selected to attend the TWINCLE program from February 7-19, 2020.

The Twin College Envoy (TWINCLE) is a unique program conducted by the Faculty of Education, Chiba University and launched in 2012. 

               In this program, Twin students of Chiba University whose majors are education and other subjects respectively visit primary and secondary schools in ASEAN countries, including the Philippines. They provide students with knowledge and experiments regarding cutting-edge science and technology and Japanese culture.

                The TWINCLE program aims to contribute to the enhancement of scientific studies for students of primary and secondary schools as well as universities in ASEAN countries. Moreover, it seeks to attain the following: give ASEAN students a chance to touch the cutting-edge science and technology of Chiba University; promote cooperative programs between ASEAN and Japanese universities through TWINCLE; and, promote mutual understanding of cultural issues between ASEAN and Japan.

Amplifying globalization tied with quality education, PSU established an alliance with three foreign universities: Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak, and Pangkep State Polytechnic of Agriculture for academic cooperation and mutual interest through a virtual MOA/MOU signing ceremony.

By supporting educational professionals and activities between the institutions, the agreement aims to promote international understanding, scholarly collaboration, cultural interaction, and friendship.

The scope of the agreement includes faculty exchange, student exchange, visiting lecturers, joint research activities, participation in seminars, academic material exchange, and the provision of special short-term educational programs

The SEA Teacher Project or the โ€œPre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asiaโ€ is a project initiated by the Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO).

By collaborating with universities in Southeast Asia, the project aims to provide an opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.

 These PSUnians will be deployed in schools in Indonesia namely Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, and Universitas Sriwijaya (UNSRI).

Pangasinan State University Bayambang collaborates with Indonesiaโ€™s Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (UPG) thru a Joint Teaching for Virtual Faculty Exchange Programme for the 2nd Semester of Academic Year 2020-2021.

With the vision of not only fortifying the relationship between the two esteemed institutions but also providing relevant and comprehensive learnings to students, this partnership allowed Early Childhood Education (ECEd) majors of both universities to virtually join together for a four-session lecture series.

Asst. Prof. Rudjane C. Tunac, PSU-BC ECEd Department Chair, shared her knowledge on โ€œSocial-Emotional Development Methodologyโ€ during the affairโ€™s first two sessions on the 23rd of both March and April. Meanwhile, UPG counterpart Dewa Gede Firstia Wirabrata, talked about โ€œChild Developmentโ€ last May 18 and 25.

Indeed that no pandemic hinders Pangasinan State University from delivering quality education and valuable experiences to its students.

Six (6) Erasmus Mundus scholars from Pangasinan State University were sent off to conduct their Off-Campus Practice Teaching until March 15, 2019 at Leyte Normal University, Tacloban City. The scholars were accompanied by Dr. Amado Ramos, College Dean of Teacher Education in Bayambang Campus, Prof. Agnes Barruela and Prof. Perla Delos Santos, PT Coordinators of Bayambang Campus and Prof. Cristie Marie Dalisay PT Coordinator of Lingayen Campus. Erasmus Mundus Exchange Practice Teaching program is participated in by National Network of Normal Schools and Universities (3NS) institutions, where PSU is an active member.

Having what it requires to become Erasmus Mundus Scholars, four Practice Teachers namely Melissa Joy F. De Guzman, Jaica S. Pascua, Norman T. De Vera,ย  Bachelor of Secondary Education specializing in English, and Alyzza R. Rosales, Bachelor in Elementary Education major in Pre-Elementary Education were sent off to Bukidnon State University by Prof. Mitzy Macaraeg, University Head of Practice Teaching and Dr. Amado Ramos, CTE Dean of Bayambang Campus on September 29, 2019.

For two months, they will be exposed to the best practices of the host school through which the experience serves as an input towards continuous improvement of the Practice-Teaching program of PSU.

The Pangasinan State University (PSU) – Department of Science and Technology Region 1 (DOST 1) Food Innovation Center (FIC) succesfully participated in the FIC Marketing Academy: Market Launching and Test Market Implementation at Robinsons Mall, Starmills, San Fernando City, Pampanga on June 4, 2022.

Top 10 Best Food Products of Cluster A from Region 1,2,3 and CAR were launched. Free tasting of different products were offered.

PSU-DOST1 FIC’s developed technogies, Squash Pesto Sauce in Pouch (Top 4) and Tomato Salsa in Bottle (Top 7) were sold out during the market launch perceiving high marketability.

The researcher-participants also conducted market surveys to consumers, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and potential technology adaptors.

PSU-DOST1 FIC technologies will proceed to the National Market Launch to be held at UP Town Center, Quezon City on June 25, 2022.

Various FIC-developed local and innovative food products were showcased at the InnovEats by DOST Food Innovation Center held at the UP Town Center on June 25, 2022.

Innovators came from all over the different regions of the Philippines, starting from Cagayan Valley to as far as Sultan Kudarat. Products were displayed mainly to showcase the developed technologies open for adaption and commercialization.

Pangasinan State University was recognized as FINALIST for the two technologies developed, Tomato Salsa and Squash Pesto Sauce. The latter was awarded with a plaque as qualifier for the Most Innovative Product Award.

The DOST Provincial Science and Technology Center – Pangasinan led by Engr. Arnold C. Santos was also present during the event.

The innovators were grateful for this opportunity to promote their technologies in public as well as build network and linkages to other stakeholders and co-innovators.

Six (6) FIC developed technologies from Region 1 state universities Pangasinan State University and Mariano Marcos Memorial State University were among the Top 10 Best Product Finalist awarded during the North Luzon FIC Cluster Fair Marketing Academy held last May11 – 13, 2022 at the Hotel Supreme, Baguio City. There were a total of 22 competing products during the event which were presented during the minimum viable product (MVP) presentation of various participants from Region 1, 2, 3, and CAR.

Two (2) PSU DOST 1 Food Innovation Center developed technologies, the Squash Pesto Sauce and Tomato Salsa in Pouch were awarded as Fourth Prize and Finalist Award, respectively. Both products were produced utilizing the water retort machine, one of the HITS (High Impact Technology Solutions) equipment rolled out by DOST to Regional FIC.

Mr. Felcris Z. Dy, PSU faculty researcher pitched the Squash Pesto Sauce while Ms. Meryl A. Bernardino, DOST1 FIC staff presented the Tomato Salsa technology. They were supported by Ms. Charissa De Vera, PSU faculty researcher and Ms. Jennifer Fernandez, DOST 1 -PSTC Pangasinan staff as part of the organizing committee and pioneer students of the Year 1 FIC Marketing Academy.

The FIC Marketing Academy is a part of the project of the DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) led by Dr. Zorayda Ang. The 3-day event were organized by Cluster A led by PD Nora Garcia as the Cluster Dean. On the first day, all the products were showcased and presented for pitching. A lecture on the Test Marketing Implementation was also delivered by Dr. Dave D. Centeno, Professor from UP Diliman. Awarding was done the next day followed by benchmarking to BSU ATBI/IC located in La Trinidad Benguet and to PSU DOST 1 Food Innovation Center in Bayambang, Pangasinan.

PSU-DOST1 Food Innovation Center researchers served as trainers of the recently conducted seminar training on February 18-19, 2021 entitled โ€œTupig Innovations and Processing Technologies to Increase Business Opportunitiesโ€. The 2-day activity was facilitated and sponsored by the DOST1-Pangasinan and the LGU San Fabian which were actively attended by twenty-two (22) tupig makers from Tucok San Fabian Tupig Makers Association.

โ€œThe technologies developed through research by the PSU and the FIC are intended for the improvement of the communityโ€, Dr. Liza Quimson, PSU-Bayambang Campus Executive Director emphasized during her welcome remarks. The LGU San Fabian represented by Sir Tony, the municipal executive secretary also inspired the participants by opening their minds to the beauty of product improvement and eventually organization engagement to contribute on the development of their own community. Dr. Raquel Pambid, FIC Head explained the FIC House Rules and introduced the resource speakers.

The participants expressed their gratitude as they were able to learn good manufacturing practices, standardized tupig making and processing innovations and technologies to prolong the shelf life of their product and to offer new variations such as tupig balatinao, tupig bucayo and tupig ube halaya to their consumers. They were also very grateful for the label and packaging assistance extended by the Department of Science and Technology 1- Pangasinan.

The combined efforts of PSU, DOST and LGU San Fabian was further enhanced by the presence and support of the Office of the Congressman Christopher De Venecia who expressed to be the brand ambassador of the San Fabianโ€™s OTOP, the tupig.

Certificates and training modules were given to the participants after the seminar training. Indeed, the event was one fruitful endeavor and proof of harmony among agencies to help upgrade quality food products such as the tupig.//
