Unwavering Commitment to Excellence: PSU Bayambang undergoes AACCUP Accreditation
Pangasinan State University Bayambang Campus (PSU-BC) remains steadfast in its commitment to give quality education and services, as it continues to embark on the journey towards growth, improvement, and excellence. As a testament of this institution’s pursuit, PSU Bayambang have subjected itself and its different programs to numerous accreditations through the years.
On November 27-28, 2017, the flagship programs of PSU Bayambang namely Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) underwent accreditation by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP). The two programs under the College of Teacher Education, which were subjected to a two-day survey visit, successfully obtained Level 4 Phase 2 A, just one of the many feats of PSU Bayambang.
The following year, another two of the campus’ programs were accredited by AACCUP: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) and Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA). Both programs were awarded Level 2 accreditation status after the three-day survey visit on October 2-4, 2018. The accreditation of these two programs under the College of Arts, Sciences and Technology were followed by another accreditation of its remaining two programs in 2021.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a program of the Institute of Nursing in PSU Bayambang, was subjected to Level 3 accreditation on October 12-16, 2020. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid 19 pandemic, the institution pushed through with the accreditation to ensure attainment of its goals and more importantly, for quality assurance. Through the collective efforts of the area chairs, working committee, and campus officials and staff, the program was awarded the Level III Phase 1 accredited status.
The other two programs of CAST namely Bachelor of Arts in English Language (ABEL) and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), applied for Level 3 accreditation status on August 23-27, 2021. The virtual five-day survey visit was successfully conducted with the hard work of the dedicated PSUnians under the leadership of the university president Dr. Dexter R. Buted, and guidance of the Campus Executive Director, Dr. Liza L. Quimson. Like the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), it was awarded the Level III Phase 1 accredited status.
As a whole, PSU Bayambang applied for institutional accreditation for the Level 4 Re-Accredited status last year, from December 13-17, 2021. The nine areas for quality assurance were meticulously assessed by the AACCUP accreditors. These nine areas include: (1) Governance and Management, (2) Teaching-Learning and Evaluation, (3) Faculty and Staff, (4) Research, (5) Extension, (6) Support to Students, (7) Library, 8-Infrastructure and Other Learning Resources, and (9) Quality Assurance. After a week-long assessment, PSU Bayambang reaped the fruits of its hard work and successfully obtained what it was aiming for: the hard-earned Level 4 Re-Accredited status. The said award was received by Dr. Dexter R. Buted, University President, during the AACCUP 35th Annual National Conference and 2nd Virtual National Conference on March 11, with the theme Trends and Directions in Accreditation in Pre-and Post-Covid Stretch.
PSU Bayambang is one of the first two universities to be conferred with Institutional Accreditation Level IV Re-Accredited status by the Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP). This goes to show that PSU Bayambang evidently provides quality education and offers excellent service delivery at par with the leading universities in our country and in the ASEAN region.
Once again, PSU shows beyond doubt that it lives up to its reputation of being the region’s premier university of choice.

The Accrediting Agency for Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) has granted Institutional Accreditation Level IV Re-Accredited status to Pangasinan State University Bayambang Campus. The said award was received by Dr. Dexter R. Buted, University President, during the AACCUP 35th Annual National Conference and 2nd Virtual National Conference on March 11, with the theme Trends and Directions in Accreditation in Pre-and Post-Covid Stretch.
PSU-BC went through a week-long assessment in nine areas for quality assurance namely: (1) Governance and Management, (2) Teaching-Learning and Evaluation, (3) Faculty and Staff, (4) Research, (5) Extension, (6) Support to Students, (7) Library, 8-Infrastructure and Other Learning Resources, and (9) Quality Assurance on December 13-17, 2021.
Dr. Buted personally believes that the findings and recommendations after going through these assessments are much more important than the award itself “…from here on, we move forward to greater heights ushering our university to take the path of continuous improvement…”
This amazing feat can be attributed to all the mighty men and women of Bayambang Campus whose zeal for quality and excellence is unparalleled. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Maria Glenda O. de Lara of Philippine Normal University and lead accreditor for the area assessment for (2) Teaching, Learning, and Evaluation, (3) Faculty and Staff, and (6) Support to Students, commended Dr. Liza L. Quimson, Campus Executive Director for her exemplary leadership. “The top secret in an organization lies in the leadership; when the leader is inspiring [and] admirable, he/she can make things happen. When the subordinates are inspired, they will work voluntarily towards the achievement of [the] common goal,” said Dr. de Lara.
The Institutional Accreditation of an institution by a reputable organization is a huge undertaking as its success bears a telling for the further endeavors of the institution. And after passing the dire AACCUP institutional accreditation, PSU-BC has now earned the stamp of approval not only of the accreditors but the entire Higher Education Institutions across the country.
PSU-BC’s hard-earned Institutional Accreditation level IV Re-Accredited status is a testament that we are the Region’s Premier University of Choice.
