In a proactive move to strengthen its collaboration with the local government of Bayambang regarding the ongoing construction of the Bayambang Central Terminal, Pangasinan State University officials, led by University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, engaged in a constructive meeting with their local counterparts earlier today, December 4, at the Mayor’s Office.

The meeting saw the presence of key figures, including former Bayambang Mayor Dr. Cezar T. Quiambao, who initiated the said project during his term, representing Hon. Mayor Mary Clare Judith Phyllis “Niña” Jose-Quiambao. Also in attendance were PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, current Campus Executive Director Dr. Gudelia M. Samson, former CED and current Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Ian D. Evangelista , Dr. Rafael L. Saygo, Tourism Office Head, Municipal Administrator Atty. Rodelynn Rajini Sagarino-Vidad, PSU Legal Services Officer Atty. Darius B. De Guzman, along with officials from both PSU Bayambang and LGU Bayambang.

Following an initial meeting last November 15, the recent meeting played a crucial role as the forum for addressing various concerns and setting proactive plans for the continuous advancement of the joint project between the two parties.

Notably, in 2021, both parties formalized an agreement to utilize the 8,000.00 sqm space at PSU Bayambang for the development of the state-of-the-art Central Terminal. This initiative aims to provide efficient public transport with sufficient space for both Bayambangueños and residents from neighboring municipalities.

The meeting sets the stage for potential amendments to the initial contract, presenting an opportunity to enhance the partnership for the mutual benefit of both parties, with a primary focus on the well-being of the students, and the local community.

In his message, President Galas emphasized the university’s full support for possible changes to the contract with the LGU, underscoring the positive impact it could offer on a broader spectrum of people.

Further, PSU and LGU Bayambang hint at more significant collaborations in the future, benefitting students, stakeholders, and the local community.

Maraming Salamat, Balon Bayambang!
