BAYAMBANG, PANGASINANโ€”The highly- acclaimed and awarding-winning Pangasinan State University Department of Science and Technology 1 – Food Innovation Center (PSU DOST 1 FIC) played host to another academic institution, the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) for its benchmarking activity yesterday, October 17.

The activity aimed to share the best practices of PSU DOST 1 FIC in its operation and management, including its equipment, to boost the Research, Development and Extension (RDE) of ISPSC as a higher education institution, to offer a top-notch higher education and to better serve the community.

Campus Executive Director Dr. Liza L. Quimson and FIC Center Head Dr. Wilma M. De Vera warmly welcomed the delegates from ISPSC and toured them around the center to show the various processing equipment and facilities.
โ€œYou are always welcome to visit here as Pangasinan State University is always willing to extend its help in various research endeavors, especially to its fellow SUCs,” Dr. Quimson said during the courtesy call in her office.
Ms. Meryll A. Bernardino, the DOST Science and Research Specialist in charge of PSUโ€™s FIC, explained to the delegates how FIC machines work to produce various FIC products using crops accessible in the locality.

Present in the said activity were Mrs. Milagros O. Liberato, Head of SMART Agriculture, Mrs. Perlita F. Tomas, Acting Director for Extension, Mrs. Juvy D. Naungayan, Asst. Professor II, Mr. Zosimo A. Liberato, Assoc. Prof. V, Mr. Peter Paul L. Lazo, Science Research Specialist I, Mrs. Maria Angelica D. Evangelista, OPIRE Project Staff, and Engr. Edmund Vasquez, Manager, AVESECO.

PSU, aiming to be an ASEAN premier state university, places a high value on the quality of its research and innovative products, as seen by the numerous awards it has earned and the community beneficiaries it has assisted. Physical benchmarking has been welcomed by the University in sharing its best practices for the growth of quality education to other academic institutions.
