Pangasinan State University, Bayambang Campusโ€™ faculty and students bagged various awards in Balon Bayambangโ€™s Tourism Month 2022 Celebration themed โ€œRethinking Tourismโ€ held at the Balon Bayambang Events Center, September 29.
PSU BC team won the Best Souvenir Design Competition under the direction of Dr. Marjorie P. Lacap, Chair of the Science and Math Department and President of the Faculty Association, along with Mr. Jeferson Austria, Mr. Ronan L. Mendoza, Mr. Justin J. Martinez, and Dr. Krigher C. Simbulan.
During the said event, various institutions and organizations in Bayambang set up a booth with a variety of locally produced souvenirs, including tumblers, t-shirts, magnets, keychains, and alcohol sprays, to name a few. Additionally, the Food Innovation Center’s (FIC) tomato salsa, burong isda, and squash, okra, and red onion snacks were all on show at the PSU-BC stand and were all regarded as local goods in Bayambang.
Meanwhile, PSU-BC also won the Virtual Tour Guiding Contest with first and second place finishes from BSED English students Karishma Gupta and Jan Arlee De Guzman, respectively, and third place from LIS faculty member Mr. Alberto Agbuya.
Lastly, Lowell Mabanglo, a BSED- English senior, claimed the 1st runner-up spot in Mr. Tourism Competition.
This simply serves to demonstrate that PSU Bayambang is supporting the initiative to promote local tourism for sustainable development.
