With the aim of raising awareness on the preservation of Pangasinan Cultural Heritage, the Laboratory Integrated School (LIS) held โTawir Talksโ at the Benigno Aldana Gymnasium on Wednesday morning, May 24.
Spearheaded by the UNESCO Club, the said seminar was attended by faculty members of various departments, students of Junior and Senior High School departments, and student-interns of the institution.
Dr. Teresita P. Sunga, chairperson of the high school department, welcomed the resource speakers and attendees in her opening remarks, saying that the event is for the continuation of the legacy of Pangasinense ancestors.

Meanwhile, in her inspirational message, Assoc. Prof. Tuesday C. De Leon, principal of LIS, emphasized the importance of knowing the roots and origin of being a Pangasinense.

Mr. Nicanor D. Germono, the president of Youth for Pangasinan Heritage (Y4PH) who served as one of the speakers in the event, discussed โHeritage? Anto Man? (The Basics of Heritage)โ that aims to stress the importance of preserving the various heritage that can be found in the country and differentiate the tangible and intangible heritage and its examples.

Mr. Kevin Conrad A. Ibasco, deputy chair of the information management committee of Y4PH, talked about Pangasinanโs history in his โAwaran: Kasaysayan ng Pangasinanโ desiring to instill the true definition of history, the beauty of Pangasinan, and the different revolts that took place in the province.
Ibasco urged the attendees to take pride in the rich history of Pangasinan and pass this to the next generation.

An open forum at the end of the lectures served as a way for the students to ask the ways on how to promote Pangasinanโs local products, enrich the local language and its varieties, and whether calling the people of Pangasinan as โPangalatokโ is offensive.
