To prepare the 287 teaching interns of Pangasinan State University – Bayambang Campus, the first day of three-day seminar-workshop was held at the Benigno Aldana Gymnasium, January 19.
Dr. Cheryl C. Mendoza, the newly appointed Dean of the College of Teacher Education (CTE) stressed the significance of not giving up when things get out of hand; instead, remain composed and focused even when situations seem to get out of hand.
“When you go out there and everything is falling apart, do not look at the whole mountain, and focus on one thing at a time,” Dr. Mendoza advised to the attendees.
The first day of seminar-workshop covered action research which was discussed by Ms. Chary Lyn De Guzman, focal person of PSU Laboratory Junior High School, presenting the issues in Philippine education, including low proficiency, classroom insufficiency, and students’ personal problems.
“It gives teachers a tool to find practical solutions to uplift learning,” said Ms. De Guzman, emphasizing the importance of research and how it provides solutions to the issues that has long been persistent to the country.
Meanwhile, Ms. Jonalyn B. Joel, a faculty of the General Education Department, discussed actionable strategies in managing stress. Ms. Joel reminded the interns about the importance of protecting their holistic well-being as they cope-up with the academic demands.
Through the exemplary leadership of Dr. Elbert M. Galas, University President, and Dr. Madlyn M. Tingco, Campus Executive Director, this significant program serves as a vital platform in equipping future educators with the necessary skills and character required within and beyond the classroom.
