In line with the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary and in support of environmental sustainability, Pangasinan State University – Bayambang Campus (PSU-BC) conducted a tree planting activity at Brgy. Hermoza, Bayambang, September 17.

A total of 60 seedlingsโ€”comprising langka, atis, and sampalocโ€”were provided by the Bayambang Municipal Agriculture Department and planted with the joint efforts of PSU-BC faculty, Barangay Hermoza officials, and community workers.

The initiative strengthened the partnership between the academe and the community in nurturing both people and the environment. In his opening remarks, Risk Management Unit Focal Person Dr. Erwin B. Tantay emphasized that each tree planted is not merely a sapling but a symbol of hope, progress, and sustainability.

Meanwhile, Dean of Students and Alumni Affairs Asst. Prof. Leonardo V. Basilio, Jr. highlighted in his inspirational message that the activity seeks to encourage solutions to the pressing issue of climate change. He proudly shared that every graduating student at PSU-BC is required to plant trees as part of their clearance requirements before graduation.

The event was facilitated by Dr. Tantay together with Energy Efficiency, Solid Waste Management, and Pollution Control (EESWMPC) Coordinator Ms. Grace C. Maligalig.

Under the leadership of University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas and Campus Executive Director Dr. Gudelia M. Samson, the event underscored PSUโ€™s commitment towards environmental sustainability and paving the way for future collaborations with local partners advocating for a greener community.
