As part of the celebration of the 12th Campus Festival of Pangasinan State University Bayambang Campus, with the theme of “Greatness: Strength Beyond Physique,” the Institute of Nursing, in collaboratin with the Philippine Red Cross, Dagupan Chapter, prepared their yearly Blood Letting Program held at the I.N. Bldg, simulation room on the 5th day of the campus festival; March 29, 2019. Students, teaching, and non-teaching personnel from different programs and colleges highly parti-cipated in this program which made the event successful.
An amount of P20,000 was donated by the university to aid the needs of the volunteers who helped in this successful event.
At exactly 6:00 AM in the morning, all the students of the Institute of Nursing gathered in front of the building to prepare the venue of their Blood Letting Program 2019 with a theme of “Give Blood, Save Lives” and the photo booth for the souvenirs of the donors, especially for the first time donors. Nursing students have their own posts in the event, With the BP Section, Weight and Interview Section.
At 7:40 AM the preparation for the event was polished and all of the students are ready. At 8:30 AM, Red Cross Health Care team arrived at the PSU BC College of Nursing department and oriented the students about the basic questions that they need to ask from the donors.
At 9:00 AM, the event started with 5 donors who were waiting and preparing to donate blood. As the last day of the Campus Festival and the last event for the week, a lot of students and faculty gathered and willingly donate their blood. The event was smooth and full of glee as it was jam-packed. Nursing students also prepared a movie marathon for the entertainment of the donors inside, karaoke, and photo booth for those who were waiting donors outside.
At exactly 4o’clock in the afternoon, the event ended with 101 bags of blood collected from the whole campus. With the partnership of Red Cross Pangasinan Chapter, SSC PSU Bayambang, College of Nursing Faculty and Students the Blood Letting Program 2019 of the College of Nursing was successful.
