The College of Arts, Sciences, and Technology (CAST) of Pangasinan State University – Bayambang Campus conducted its Pinning, Lighting, and Passing of Torch Ceremony on January 20, 2026, at the Balon Bayambang Events Center, marking the transition of students from classroom learning to practical, work-based training.
With the theme, “Driven by Purpose: Moving Forward with Passion into the Journey of Work-Based Experience,” the ceremony aimed to prepare student interns for their upcoming on-the-job training (OJT) by strengthening values of dedication, responsibility, professionalism, and commitment to service.
In her Opening Remarks, Dr. Ghana L. Cahatol, Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Technology, encouraged the student interns to pursue their true passions and to approach their internship as an opportunity for meaningful learning and personal growth beyond academic requirements.
Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco, Campus Executive Director, urged the interns to serve with integrity and compassion and to perform their OJT responsibilities with sincerity, discipline, and a strong sense of accountability as representatives of the university.
Meanwhile, Hon. Mary Clare Judith Phyllis-Quiambao, Mayor of Bayambang, highlighted the importance of resilience during work-based training, emphasizing that challenges encountered during OJT serve as valuable learning experiences that help students grow stronger, wiser, and better prepared for future professional responsibilities.
Anchored on the leadership and strategic direction of Dr. Elbert M. Galas, President of Pangasinan State University, and reinforced by the guidance and support of Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco, Campus Executive Director, the ceremony reflects PSU Bayambang’s continued commitment to developing competent, dynamic, responsive, and future-ready students equipped for real-world workplace environments.
