The KALAHI-CIDSS is a poverty alleviation program implemented by the Department of Social Worker and Development (DSWD), initiated by the Office of Senator Imee Marcos, which aims to help fresh graduates develop skills and gain work experiences tailored to the community-driven industry. Comprised by KALAHI beneficiaries from Pangasinan State University campuses namely:
PSU-Bayambang, PSU-Asingan, PSU-Urdaneta, PSU-Binmaley, PSU-San Carlos, PSU-Lingayen, and PSU-Infanta, the event culminates the 90-day work-experience which highlights the theme, “Exploring Possibilities: Thriving Career Life After 90 days of work experience under the KALAHI CIDSS CFW Program.”
University President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, emphasized in his message that the program opens opportunities and career possibilities to PSU graduates, which is aligned to PSU’s vision to become a leading industry-driven state university in the ASEAN region by 2030.
“It is part of our program to immerse you in the people and the industry. The industry refers to our workplace… With your skills, knowledge, and competencies during your 90 days with Pangasinan State University, I believe that you are now ready to conquer the world of your respective industry, workplace, and field of specialization.”
Indeed, Dr. Galas’ statement became even more significant when Ericka Solomon, a KALAHI alumna from PSU-Bayambang, shared her experiences and realizations about being part of the program; emphasizing that being a KALAHI molded her into someone she aspires to become. She noted that her experiences developed her communication skills, time management strategies, sense of responsibility, efficiency at work, and character toward others, giving her wider opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Additionally, Congresswoman Rachel Arenas expressed her heartfelt congratulations to Pangasinan State University for producing field and future-ready graduates, giving more emphasis to their honed skills and knowledge relevant to their chosen industry. Representing Sen. Imee Marcos, she highlighted the importance of the program in assisting fresh graduates not only with financial needs but also with their abilities while getting ready for the real battle of what awaits after graduation.
