In partnership with the Teacher Education Council (TEC), Pangasinan State University–Bayambang Campus (PSU-BC) hosted the Online Orientation on the Application for Teacher Education Center of Excellence (COE) via Zoom on January 21, 2026, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to quality teacher education.
The orientation aimed to provide Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) with an updated overview of the COE designation system and to encourage qualified institutions to submit their applications, strengthening national efforts toward quality assurance in pre-service teacher education.
Mr. Ferdinand Rellorosa, Chief Education Program Specialist of the Quality Pre-Service Teacher Education Office under TEC, emphasized that Philippine education is at a critical point in history, noting that applying for COE status reflects an institution’s dedication to producing high-quality teachers.
“May this orientation renew our commitment to quality assurance in teacher education, as we believe that the solution begins with the quality of teachers we produce,” Mr. Rellorosa emphasized.
Meanwhile, Ms. Marie Kristel B. Corpin, Education Program Specialist II, discussed the identification and designation process for COE, highlighting that applicant institutions receive narrative feedback to help identify strengths and guide areas for improvement.
The orientation also featured an open forum, allowing participating institutions to raise concerns and clarify application requirements.
In her message, Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco, Campus Executive Director, expressed gratitude to the University’s stakeholders whose collective efforts contribute to PSU’s sustained excellence in teacher education.
“Our recognition as a Teacher Education Center of Excellence reflects our adherence to national and international standards of quality, relevance, and responsiveness,” Dr. Tingco stated.
Likewise, Dr. Cheryl C. Mendoza, Dean of the College of Teacher Education (CTE), underscored that quality assurance is a shared responsibility of the entire academic community.
“Quality assurance is not only about meeting standards but about our collective responsibility to prepare competent, ethical, and future-ready educators for Filipino learners,” Dr. Mendoza emphasized.
The hosting of the orientation and PSU Bayambang’s continued pursuit of COE recognition highlight the University’s unwavering commitment to high-quality teacher education, guided by the leadership of Dr. Elbert M. Galas, President of Pangasinan State University, and Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco, Campus Executive Director.
