As prompt response of the university to continue delivering quality education amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Pangasinan State University through the Research, Extension, and Innovation Office allotted two million pesos in funding to fuel the ICT Konek โ€“ a project providing accessible and efficient learning resources and other Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) facilities for students in the new normal setting.

With the adoption of flexible learning, learning hubs throughout the five (5) participating Local Government Units (LGUs) were used by the students  in Bayambang, Bastista, Basista, Malasiqui, and Alcala. Each local hub was designed to accommodate students in their online classes. The hubs were equipped with computer sets, stable internet connectivity, air conditioning system, and electric fans for the students to experience a conducive and safe learning environment.  Moreover, a faculty member was assigned per day in each hub to assist those who use the facilities in the hub.

The ICT Konek aims to establish more ICT learning space and students’ resources to areas within the students’ reach. The project also minimized the educational expenses of the students who belong to low-income families. Moreover, this effort to bring innovative methods of learning in the communities forges stronger ties between the university and the LGUs.

To ensure safety, PSU implemented the flexible learning strategy and innovative mode of instruction in accordance with the requirements set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Health, and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

The project commenced in November 2020 and ended in March 2022 as the learning modality gradually shifted from online platform to face-to-face classes.
