The Pangasinan State University again waved its banner high in the field of Research, Extension and Innovation as it bagged two primary awards in the recently concluded Science and Technology Creations for the People Technology Pitch Day organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST).
Various mature technologies of different Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from the five member consortia of DOST- Philippine Council for Agriculture and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) namely BCAARRD, ILAARRDEC, SMAARRDEC, STAARRDEC and WESVAARRDEC, were pitched to potential investors and industry partners during the event via Zoom teleconferencing and Facebook live on May 31.
The event commenced with a message from DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela Pena who stressed the importance of the power of Science and Technology Creations in the development of a fast-paced technology-driven community.
Technology Pitch Day is one of the activities under the DOST-PCAARRD program entitled โBoosting the Agri-Aqua Business Incubation in PSU through RAISE Program โ a project which runs from January 1, 2022 โ December 31, 2023 under the innovative hands of project leader Dr. Catalina C. Platon of the Innovation and Technology Support Office and the University Vice-President for Research, Extension and Production, Dr. Paulo V. Cenas.
Out of 40 entries in both Video and Poster pitches from three technology categories namely: Agri-Aqua Input and Products, Food and Beverages and Equipment and Machineries, PSUโs entry entitled โVacuum Fried Mushroom โ Musharap at Mashushtansiyang Snackโ won first place in Video Pitch (Best Video Pitch) and third place in Poster Pitch by Ms. Roseanne Jane C. Agustin of PSU Bayambang Campus.
โThe award and recognition continues the winning streak of PSU from the recent technology pitches organized by DOST-PCAARRD, โDr. Platon said.
This latest achievement was made possible by the ardent support of University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted and the initiative of the researcher and developers of the said technology led by Dr. Racquel C. Pambid as the lead researcher, Dr. Wilma De Vera and Dr. Veronica C. Austria as the technology developers, Mr. Cyril John Domingo and Ms. Meryl A. Bernardino as the technology team members and Ms. Roseann Jane Agustin as team member for marketing.
As PSU is a productivity -oriented, people-centered and passion-driven institution, its desire is to continuously source out and seek new knowledge and awareness in current educational and technological trends leading to sustainability and higher productivity.
