Faculty Researchers from the Institute of Nursing conducted Health Risks Assessment of Salt Makers in Pangasinan

Pangasinan State University undertakes the organization of the very 1st Philippine Salt Congress on November 23-25, 2022. The event will serve as a hallmark of the Universityโ€™s leadership in the development of salt processing and management through quality research, extension and innovation programs and will put the salt industry back on the map towards national recognition.

As a campus with a strong research culture, Faculty-Researchers are conducting approved studies relevant to the said conference. The on-going researches includes the Health Risk Assessments, the Revisiting of Land Use Plan, the Implementation of ASIN Law (Republic Act 8172) and the Economic Status of Salt Traders and Producers which will serve as a basis for community development programs in the future.

The Salt Congress is aย national activity will be a three-day event which will be participated by researchers and innovators from different universities with active researches and programs on salt production, processing, technology development, economy and marketing . Stakeholders from the industry, LGUs and policy-giving bodies (e.g., legislators) and government institutions such as DOST, DTI and BFAR are also expected to participate. Prominent local and international figures in the salt industry will be invited as Keynote Speakers to give insights and will be given recognition. As a culminating activity, awards will be given to the researchers, innovators, legislators, institutions and industry players with significant contributions in uplifting the salt industry. Creation of the Philippine Salt Playerโ€™s Association will also be conducted as a post-congress activity.
